YT29A Heavy-Duty Air Leg Rock Drill (Pusher Leg Tunneling Expert)
The YT29A Air-Leg Rock Drill (Jack Leg) is the most powerful pneumatic machine in the Topking YT series. Widely recognized as the industry standard for modern tunneling and underground mining, it delivers superior impact energy (≥78J) for rapid excavation in hard rock (f=8~18).
Typical Applications
Underground hard rock mining & ore extraction
Railway and highway tunnel excavation
Hydropower station tunneling and dam construction
Heavy-duty quarry drilling operations
Key Features & Advantages
● Superior Power (≥78J): Devastating impact energy ensures the fastest penetration in super-hard rock.
● Optimized Control: Grouped backhead mechanism allows for quick start-up and responsive handling.
● High Torque (≥20 N·m): Prevents drill rod jamming even in extremely deep holes.
● Robust Durability: Heavy-duty forged steel body built for extremely long service life.
Q1: What is the difference between YT28 and YT29A?
A: YT29A is the heavy-duty model designed for faster drilling in super-hard rock. It features a larger cylinder bore (82mm) and delivers a massive ≥78J impact energy at its peak pressure (0.63 MPa), significantly outperforming the YT28 in deep-hole tunneling.
Q2: Can I use the YT29A as a hand-held drill without the air leg?
A: No. Due to its heavy weight (27kg) and extreme recoil force, the YT29A must be mounted on an FT160A, FT160B, FT160C, or FT170 pusher leg for safe and efficient operation.
Q3: What drill bits and rods are compatible with the YT29A?
A: The YT29A uses a standard Hex H22 x 108 mm shank. It is compatible with all standard tapered drill rods and bits. For optimum efficiency, use bits with a diameter of 34mm to 45mm and drill up to 5 meters in depth.
Q4: What size air compressor do I need to run a YT29A rock drill?
A: The air consumption scales with your working pressure. At the minimum pressure of 0.4 MPa, it consumes ≤52 L/s. To achieve peak penetration speed at 0.63 MPa, it requires up to ≤88 L/s. We recommend a compressor that can deliver at least 5.5 m³/min (approx. 190 CFM) per drill to maintain maximum impact.
Q5: What are the water pressure requirements for wet drilling?
A: For effective dust suppression and hole flushing, the water pressure must be maintained at 0.1 to 0.15 MPa lower than your working air pressure. This precise balance ensures the water needle prevents dust without flooding the pneumatic cylinder.
Q6: Why is the FT160A Air Leg necessary for underground mining?
A: The air leg supports the 27kg weight of the drill, absorbs the massive recoil, and provides consistent forward feed pressure (thrust). This allows the operator to drill horizontally or upward with minimal fatigue.
